Groupers { 29 images } Created 8 Dec 2020

Groupers are the best known members of the sea bass family. They have large mouths and lips and a jutting lower jaw. The long, continuous dorsal fin is noticeably divided into two parts. They vary in size from the giant Goliath Grouper that grows to seven feet to the one-foot Coney. They are solitary carnivores that live near the bottom. Most of their days are spent lurking in the shadows of the reefs, ledges and wrecks where larger species blend with the background.
